The Sunshine House is a children’s home in Cochabamba, Bolivia that cares for children who have been abandoned or rescued from unsafe family situations. The Sunshine House works to care for these children with the goal of one day placing them with lasting families. We currently are a home to boys and girls ranging in ages from infants to ten years.
“Casa de Amor,” a children’s home in Cochabamba originally founded by Jennifer Thompson Beaty, had planned on closing this summer due to financial reasons. A new administrative board has taken over the home to prevent the children who live there from being split up among various other orphanages. With a fresh start comes a new name, “The Sunshine House.”
With many familiar faces among our resident children and their caregivers, we’ll also continue to welcome new children into our doors who need a place to stay. We work to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our Sunshine House kids until, hopefully, they can be placed with permanent families through reinsertion or adoption.
We are committed to trying to keep the siblings and children from the former Casa de Amor (most of whom have grown up together,) together and cared for well. Backed by our Christian faith, we want our children to grow up knowing that they are loved and learning how to love other people. The Sunshine House will operate under a new and united administration, and we will aim to take the best care of the children we have grown to love so dearly.
